The Sunnyside Story & Mission

The Sunnyside Commons is a project of Missio Dei Communities. The Phx community of Missio Dei was able to purchase the property at 11747 N. 19th Ave in July of 2025 and immediately got to work renovating the old office building. The goal was not to create another “church building” that is used on Sunday mornings and possibly Wednesday evenings and sits mostly empty the rest of the week. Instead, they wanted to make a space for the community. While Missio Dei Phoenix does have a Sunday morning service at the Commons (10am), the space is open Tue-Sat to the public, not for religious services, but for the common good of the neighborhood.

We are excited for this space to be part of the vibrant community that surrounds it and for the relationships that will be formed within it! Here’s some of what goes on at The Sunnyside Commons:
